89. Wide Receivers. Bloodbowl part 11.

Consistent updating is a thing now.

More Lizardmen BloodBowl goodness for you guys.

This post can has Skinks plz.

Seeing as the vast majority of my Lizardmen team is Skinks (7 in total), I obviously had to do some of these guys.

039

A few alternate poses thrown in for fun.
A reasonable amount of greenstuff and such to be done on a couple, and adding arms to the rest.

Not a great deal to say about these to be fair.

Next post will be almost exclusively about greenstuff I imagine

Anyway, until then

88. Hold The Line. Bloodbowl part 10.

What's up sports fans?

More Bloodbowl goodness today.

It's time for the Saurus.
Their job is to hit things.
That's about it.

Decided to use Temple Guard for my Bloodbowl Saurus; their more ornate heads and bulkier frames seem to suit the role of Bloodbowl better.

018

019

I decided to keep the shields to use as bracers, after all, the Saurus main job is to make blocks.
It was just a case of chopping off weapons and finding some interesting posses.

The two 'Blitzers.'

020

The 'Catcher/ Runner.'

This guy will be carrying a ball under his arm.

021

The Saurus Captain.

023

024

The 'Thrower.'

This guy will have a hand catching a ball sculpted onto the stump of his wrist.

025

026

The 'Star Player.'

Each of my Bloodbowl teams has a star player in case someone wants to use one, so I thought I'd make one for the Lizardmen.
Who better to use than Chakax for the base of it.

Group shot of the Suaurs/ Temple guard unit.

These guys are next up for the greenstuff treatment.
In the meantime I'll get o building my Skinks and thinking up names for all of them.

That's all for now.
If you want sneak peaks of my stuff check out my instagram as I post pictures of things as I do/ get them.
You can find it here.

Also, if you want to chat Blodbowl, modelling or about any of my other projects/ blogs, either leave me a comment or hit my up on Twitter @DarKHaZZl3.

87. Tipping The Scales. Pun Intended. Bloodbowl part 9.

Just a little update for this one.

After doing all of the gap filling on the Kroxigors, it was time to sculpt some scales on the legs to make the parts fit in visually.

015

016

017

That's pretty much it for the whole update.
The Kroxigors are 100% done at this point.

On to the Skinks and Saurus!

86. Lustira St Germain. Bloodbowl part 8.

Hey guys.
I know it has been a while, but work means I don't get to work on my own projects anywhere near as much as I'd like.
That being said, I have managed to get quite a bit done on my Bloodbowl/ Age of Sigmar Lizardmen team/ Army.

Without any further delay, here are the Kroxigors!
All three of them!

Kroxigor Captain.

012

Bonus!
Skink Priest Roshambo = Head cheerleader aka The General of my AOS army.

013

014

I even have a little story for the team;

Lustria St Germain have, despite all odds, managed to get to the Chaos Cup Bloodbowl final, and despite thos eodds are actually winning against the world famous Reikland Reavers.
With mere minutes left on the clock LSG are mounting an epic defense; their fearless Saurus line battling strong, while the Skinks manage to be everywhere at once nipping at the humans heals.

Victory seemed assured.

Suddenly the ground began to rumble.
With the teams lock in scrums across the pitch it couldn't be a charging blitzer or Kroxigor.
The players stopped in their tracks, bemused as to what was the cause of these sudden tremors.

As suddenly as it had started, it stopped and was immediately replaced with an holy cracking sound.
The earth beneath everyone's feet was tearing itself into pieces.
But this was no mere earthquake.

This was the end of the world itself.
The damage wrought by warring factions half a world a way had caused the planet to die.
Chunks of the planet tore themselves from their foundations and were flung into the air before being dragged into the void.

This insanity was too much for the occupants to take, and one by one they blacked out.

Roshambo, the head cheerleader was the first to regain consciousness.
The scene that greeted his opening eyes was vastly different to the previous one.

It was like another world; there were floating islands of earth, seemingly from different areas of the planet, and indeed, some the didn't look like they belonged in this very existence.
On top of that, they were alone. The Reikland Reevers and their fans were gone.
It was just LSG and their supporting Skink fans.

As the team awoke, Roshambo gathered his thoughts, and called the team together.

'Looks lads, I know this is a crazy turn of events, but we need to focus on what's important.'

The team murmured their agreement.

'It is up to us to do what's right'

A louder rumble of assent came back to him.

'It doesn't matter our surroundings have changed...'

Chats of here here were shouted by the team.

'If we stick together there is nothing that can tear us apart!'

A mighty cheer errupted.

'We were winning, so lets go get our cup. It is ours by right!!'

'Yeahhh... wait, what?'

It was too late. Roshambo had stormed off towards what remained of the team transportation; A Stegadon and a Bastiladon, climbed aboard and shouted, 'Who's with me?!'

The team looked at each other, shrugged and headed to the team 'buses,' and the fans followed suit.

And so began their quest for glory, or whatever else they might find in this new realm.

I've done a lot more than these guys, but I'm going to post it in separate posts, so stay tuned for more Bloodbowl, and other things.

Peace!

Thursday 27 August 2015

85 - It was Throwback Thursday when I started writing this. Bloodbowl Part 7.

Hi there Underhivers!

another update in only a few days? madness.
But here we are, and today we're talking Age of Sigmar and/ or Bloodbowl.

So, AOS is a thing.
rather than butcher my WFB army I decided to start a brand new army for AOS.
But as I flicked through the rules I just couldn't settle on an army to play as.

Fast forward a little bit, and I'm talking to some folk about Bloodbowl.
I'm personally a big fan of the game, especially the PC version as it is a directed copy of the boardgame.

It hit me as we were having this conversation, that because of the round basses in AOs I could these miniatures in a Bloodbowl team!
In Bloodbowl I predominantly play Lizardmen, so I thought it would be a good AOS army to start with, as it would give me the excuse to collect a Lizardmen team too.

So after writing a quick team roster (1 Kroxigor, 5 Saurus, 7 Skins) I set about starting the team with the big guy first.

001

In AOS the minimum Kroxigor unit size is three, so I'll have to work on a couple more too

002

A subtle head position change

003

And a not so subtle leg change. I had to saw it into a couple of parts to get the positioning to a point where I was happy with it.

004

A lot more work to go on these guys.
A little bit of gap filling and sculpting too.

Will post more as and when I get it done, but for now, sleep.

84. Long pause at the end of time.

Massive gap between this and my last post.

The main reason for that is I have a new job, which being a full time gig, has taken up a great deal of my time.
So much so that even my work over at The Cardboard Cartographer has been delayed.

The only real work I have got done has been the figures from the board game; Mice and Mystics, which has been posted to my personal blog The science of selling yourself short.

But enough blabbing.

Let's post about some actual stuff shall we?

So part of my job involves painting models.
And weather you want to see them or not, you're going see some of them!

This is the Bloodsecrator Khorne from the Age of Sigmar starter box set

01 - Age of Sigmar - Khorne Bloodsecrator

As I paint more for work, and get around to actually finishing some of my own projects I'll continue to post them here.
Keep your eyes peeled!

83. It is always #TBT at the Inqusition. Inquisitor Coteaz Part 3.

Slow progress you say?
You expected more?

Well in honest, i have actually made leaps and bounds in terms of progress, just not on stuff that gets posted here.

Issue 6 of The Cardboard Cartographer went live with a review of Cards Against Humanity, amongst other news and Kickstarter stuff.

Also, if you read my last post, then you'll know that I've been working on the Mice and Mystics figures, which have been posted on The science of selling yourself short.
I've scheduled an update of my progress on that project for the 29th, so expect to see that around 6/8pm GMT :3

Other than my various hobby activities, it has been a rather hectic week so far, and with the UK Games Expo over the next three days, I don't see much progress happneing until next week.

So for now, here's what I've managed to get done on Coteaz.

The gun makes it almost impossible to get a decent focus shot.
As such all of the highlights that define the checks, mouth, and eyebrows look none existent haha.
IRL it is honestly more defined and significantly paler.
I'll have to try and get a picture of these next time, but doing just this crashed my phone a few times as the lenses struggled a lot haha.

But as you can see I've finished work on the ragged fur cloak he's rocking

This picture is a bit chalky, but is pretty spot on for the IRL colour of the cloak, the reds seem super bright though.

This next one is a little better

I spent a great deal of time fixing the shading issues on the red cloak and it makes for a nice stark contrast that isn't jarring or out of place.
It isn't my usual gentle blended red, but I'm digging it.
I think it suits the style and shape of the cape/ cloak better.

All of the pictures have sneak peaks of the force staff.

Super work in progress; tons to do here.
But basically, the cream bits are set to be bone/ marble depending how it looks.
The brown bits are to be gold/ copper, probably done with citadel paints as apposed to the Liquid Gold I used for the armour.
The handle is going to be a rich reddish leather.
The skull is a green>white deal, with a gentle glow on the black skull, with a gloss varnish to finish.

And that is it so far.
It doesn't look like a lot, but it was a good few hours of work over a few days.

It shouldn't be too much work to finish this guy off.... I haven't decided on how to base him yet.
Probably be some form of Urban basing to fit with the Gaming Board Project.

Anyway, that is all for now.
Leave me some feedback!
Either here, on the Bolter&Chainsword or @DarKHaZZl3 on Twitter and Instagram.

Mice and Mystics @ The science of selling yourself short.

So in my previous post I mentioned I was working on the miniatures from Mice and Mystics.

001

I'm enjoying painting these up, well, some of them anyway.

If you want to follow this project then you can!
Head over to my first post about it on The science of selling yourself short.

82. Nobody expects the Imperial Inquisition. Inquisitor Coteaz Part 2.

I'm quite happy to have found myself with the drive to keep painting.

So while I dig out other bits for other projects I'm going to endevour to paint everyday.
If only a little.

So, here is some Inquisitorial goodness.

It has been quite a while since I've posted an update about this, so if you want to have a look at what he looked like then head to that post from August 2014.

Anyway, back to today's progress.
I've done the vast majority of the red work and all of the cloth/ purity seal paper work.

med_gallery_33843_5271_61858.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5271_99362.jpg

The cape needs the shadows done properly... they're a little patchy, and maybe a final highlight or two to make it pop a little more.
I'll crack on with that after I've finished the other larger areas which I've been working on today.

I'm only doing single models for a while so I don't overload myself on amount of models at the same time, also I'm also painting the models form the Mice and Mystics board game.
I'll be posting those on both my personal blog  and here too.

So keep checking back to see progress on that, and all my other projects.

Thanks for reading!
Feedback welcome as always, as well as any general chatter/ questions about anything I do/ have done.
I had some fantastic positive comments about my Quad Gun over on my thread on the Bolter & Chainsword.

See y'all soon.

81. A Road To Glory. Bang Bang Bang Bang. Sisters of Battle Part 19.

We're keeping this train rolling... think the train from FFVII going around the central pillar in Midgar. Like that.

Anyway, more painting has been done.

Once I'd finished those Lampposts I just picked up the next project on the project tray I had from when I was last painting.

That project was my Sisters of Battle Aegis Defence Line Quad Gun.

If you don't remember what it looked like, you can scroll back through the pages, or click the 'A Road to Glory' label to see all of my Sisters of Battle blog posts

Alternativly, you can just go here - http://theunderhiveh...ll-sisters.html

Anyway.
I just started layering the various colours; Purple, Green, Gold and Bone.

Here is where I'm at;

med_gallery_33843_5957_4939.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5957_110529.jpg

With a bit more light

med_gallery_33843_5957_58748.jpg

Cameras never really pick out highlights very well, that being said it is quite light and subtle.
It still pops a lot more than it used to.

Almost done.
I just wnat to pick out some details, maybe add a couple of highlights, and find the clear plastic bubble screen thing to go on the front.

Another update down!
Next stop = ?

Until then

80. Step Into the Completed Light. Building a Gaming Board part 14.

First. 80 posts!

Second. Lamp Posts are done!

Third. New picture format!

med_gallery_33843_5272_212472.jpg

It was just a case of highlighting the individual window panes with some white and giving the whole thing a light drybrush of Boltgun Metal.

YES! That would have been the game board complete, however, it took some hefty damage when we had some work done on the staircase, so it is need of repair and a little repaint ¬_¬

Ah well. MOAR of this project to come then!!

Also I shall be continuing other projects soon.

Don't call it a comeback! Or do! We'll see!

79. Are We Actually Back? Building a Gaming Board part 13.

I know.

It has been a long time, but I feel the time is right for a hobby revival.

Maybe this has something to do with me paintitng Amiibo's over on The Science of Selling Yourself Short.
Maybe it has something to do with my foray back into blogging in general in same said place? Maybe, I just fancied it?

Either way, I've had the urge to hobby, and I'm not about to question why, but just take advantage of it for how ever long it sticks around.

So, here comes the update you've all been waiting for!

I clearly had an update in the pipeline from the last time I updated this thing....
So here is where I left off some 6 months ago.

med_gallery_33843_5272_467272.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5272_35331.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5272_1009231.jpg

And today, I dusted them off (so much dust =[ ), and finally gloss varnished them!

med_gallery_33843_5272_1173535.jpg
I know it isn't the biggest update ever, but I have been painting other things.
Which you can see over on my personal blog 'here'
I've also been busy with my boardgaming blog/e-zine which you can visit 'here.'

So. I plan to ease myself back into this.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane, and check out my other projects too.

It is good to be back.

++ Also ++ A better image processing system will be in place for future posts. A Lesson I learned writing The Cardboard Cartographer, which you should totally check out!
