83. It is always #TBT at the Inqusition. Inquisitor Coteaz Part 3.

Slow progress you say?
You expected more?

Well in honest, i have actually made leaps and bounds in terms of progress, just not on stuff that gets posted here.

Issue 6 of The Cardboard Cartographer went live with a review of Cards Against Humanity, amongst other news and Kickstarter stuff.

Also, if you read my last post, then you'll know that I've been working on the Mice and Mystics figures, which have been posted on The science of selling yourself short.
I've scheduled an update of my progress on that project for the 29th, so expect to see that around 6/8pm GMT :3

Other than my various hobby activities, it has been a rather hectic week so far, and with the UK Games Expo over the next three days, I don't see much progress happneing until next week.

So for now, here's what I've managed to get done on Coteaz.

The gun makes it almost impossible to get a decent focus shot.
As such all of the highlights that define the checks, mouth, and eyebrows look none existent haha.
IRL it is honestly more defined and significantly paler.
I'll have to try and get a picture of these next time, but doing just this crashed my phone a few times as the lenses struggled a lot haha.

But as you can see I've finished work on the ragged fur cloak he's rocking

This picture is a bit chalky, but is pretty spot on for the IRL colour of the cloak, the reds seem super bright though.

This next one is a little better

I spent a great deal of time fixing the shading issues on the red cloak and it makes for a nice stark contrast that isn't jarring or out of place.
It isn't my usual gentle blended red, but I'm digging it.
I think it suits the style and shape of the cape/ cloak better.

All of the pictures have sneak peaks of the force staff.

Super work in progress; tons to do here.
But basically, the cream bits are set to be bone/ marble depending how it looks.
The brown bits are to be gold/ copper, probably done with citadel paints as apposed to the Liquid Gold I used for the armour.
The handle is going to be a rich reddish leather.
The skull is a green>white deal, with a gentle glow on the black skull, with a gloss varnish to finish.

And that is it so far.
It doesn't look like a lot, but it was a good few hours of work over a few days.

It shouldn't be too much work to finish this guy off.... I haven't decided on how to base him yet.
Probably be some form of Urban basing to fit with the Gaming Board Project.

Anyway, that is all for now.
Leave me some feedback!
Either here, on the Bolter&Chainsword or @DarKHaZZl3 on Twitter and Instagram.

Mice and Mystics @ The science of selling yourself short.

So in my previous post I mentioned I was working on the miniatures from Mice and Mystics.

I'm enjoying painting these up, well, some of them anyway.

If you want to follow this project then you can!
Head over to my first post about it on The science of selling yourself short.

82. Nobody expects the Imperial Inquisition. Inquisitor Coteaz Part 2.

I'm quite happy to have found myself with the drive to keep painting.

So while I dig out other bits for other projects I'm going to endevour to paint everyday.
If only a little.

So, here is some Inquisitorial goodness.

It has been quite a while since I've posted an update about this, so if you want to have a look at what he looked like then head to that post from August 2014.

Anyway, back to today's progress.
I've done the vast majority of the red work and all of the cloth/ purity seal paper work.

The cape needs the shadows done properly... they're a little patchy, and maybe a final highlight or two to make it pop a little more.
I'll crack on with that after I've finished the other larger areas which I've been working on today.

I'm only doing single models for a while so I don't overload myself on amount of models at the same time, also I'm also painting the models form the Mice and Mystics board game.
I'll be posting those on both my personal blog  and here too.

So keep checking back to see progress on that, and all my other projects.

Thanks for reading!
Feedback welcome as always, as well as any general chatter/ questions about anything I do/ have done.
I had some fantastic positive comments about my Quad Gun over on my thread on the Bolter & Chainsword.

See y'all soon.

81. A Road To Glory. Bang Bang Bang Bang. Sisters of Battle Part 19.

We're keeping this train rolling... think the train from FFVII going around the central pillar in Midgar. Like that.

Anyway, more painting has been done.

Once I'd finished those Lampposts I just picked up the next project on the project tray I had from when I was last painting.

That project was my Sisters of Battle Aegis Defence Line Quad Gun.

If you don't remember what it looked like, you can scroll back through the pages, or click the 'A Road to Glory' label to see all of my Sisters of Battle blog posts

Alternativly, you can just go here - http://theunderhiveh...ll-sisters.html

Anyway.
I just started layering the various colours; Purple, Green, Gold and Bone.

Here is where I'm at;

With a bit more light

med_gallery_33843_5957_58748.jpg

Cameras never really pick out highlights very well, that being said it is quite light and subtle.
It still pops a lot more than it used to.

Almost done.
I just wnat to pick out some details, maybe add a couple of highlights, and find the clear plastic bubble screen thing to go on the front.

Another update down!
Next stop = ?

Until then

80. Step Into the Completed Light. Building a Gaming Board part 14.

First. 80 posts!

Second. Lamp Posts are done!

Third. New picture format!

med_gallery_33843_5272_212472.jpg

It was just a case of highlighting the individual window panes with some white and giving the whole thing a light drybrush of Boltgun Metal.

YES! That would have been the game board complete, however, it took some hefty damage when we had some work done on the staircase, so it is need of repair and a little repaint ¬_¬

Ah well. MOAR of this project to come then!!

Also I shall be continuing other projects soon.

Don't call it a comeback! Or do! We'll see!

79. Are We Actually Back? Building a Gaming Board part 13.

I know.

It has been a long time, but I feel the time is right for a hobby revival.

Maybe this has something to do with me paintitng Amiibo's over on The Science of Selling Yourself Short.
Maybe it has something to do with my foray back into blogging in general in same said place? Maybe, I just fancied it?

Either way, I've had the urge to hobby, and I'm not about to question why, but just take advantage of it for how ever long it sticks around.

So, here comes the update you've all been waiting for!

I clearly had an update in the pipeline from the last time I updated this thing....
So here is where I left off some 6 months ago.

med_gallery_33843_5272_35331.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5272_1009231.jpg

And today, I dusted them off (so much dust =[ ), and finally gloss varnished them!

med_gallery_33843_5272_1173535.jpg
I know it isn't the biggest update ever, but I have been painting other things.
Which you can see over on my personal blog 'here'
I've also been busy with my boardgaming blog/e-zine which you can visit 'here.'

So. I plan to ease myself back into this.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane, and check out my other projects too.

It is good to be back.
